What is a botnet/zombie?
Non authorized users can simultaneously "hijack" a great number of computers via a virus. These computers will change in so called 'zombies' that can work together and undertake harmful activities. This way they can, for instance, send unsolicited e-mails, spread viruses, attack other computers, commit fraud or other unwanted activities.
Stop internet crime.
Only open attachments from e-mails or mobile messages if you know exactly who sent the message and what the content of the attachment is. Please be aware that attachments can contain viruses. Don't just open attachments received from people you know.
What to do?
- Install a 'firewall' that protects your laptop and/or pc against intruders.
- Install the correct updates of your operating system.
- Install antivirus- and antispyware software.
- Only use licensed software.
